In 3 weeks I will no longer come to work here at Ransome’s Dock, to cook and look after all the things needed to put on the daily show that is a restaurant.
In fact on Monday 12 August, we will take down all the pictures, box up the cookery books, wrap up all the computer and get ready to leave what has been home for the last 21 years.
It was here that our children came to play in the cellar at weekends for the first couple of years- Sophie was 11, Harriet 8, and here that so many friendships with staff, customers, wine makers and food producers have been forged over the years. In just over one month, Sophie will get married!
The last two weeks, since we announced the closure of he restaurant, has brought many e mails and other electronic good wishes, as well as plenty of visitors to the restaurant. Nick Lander has written a lovely piece in last weekends Financial Times: http://www.ft.com/cms/s/2/107fce14-66de-11e2-a805-00144feab49a.html#axzz2Zhn7EgL0 Lots of people are keen to know what next- you will have to wait and see as we really do not know yet, so watch this space!……….
